LAVA just won an international architecture competition to design a new national football stadium and sports village in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Football (soccer) has long been a favorite pastime in Africa, and now the sport’s fans in Ethiopia will enjoy matches in this planned FIFA World Cup and Olympic-standard 60,000 seat stadium and sports village. In addition to offering a state-of-the-art pitch for Ethiopia’s national team, the new stadium is also a tribute to Ethiopia’s rich culture and stunning landscape.
