Geely Unveils Bug-Like Solar Hybrid Micro Car in Beijing

Geely IG [4] has unveiled a new insectoid vehicle at the Beijing [5] Auto Show that may just give the VW Bug a run for its money. The car boasts a hood emblazoned with solar panels [6], a micro-compact profile, and a hybrid [7] powertrain for fuel-efficient driving. And then there are those antennae… erm, seagull doors.
There’s no word on when the vehicle will be released, but Geely [4] does have more alternative energy [8]-powered vehicles up its sleeve. The automaker is also exhibiting two all-electric EVs, the EK-1 and the EK-2, in Beijing. The EK-1 offers old-school lead acid batteries and a range of 80 kilometers, while the EK-2 can go 180 kilometers on its lithium iron phosphate battery.
