Whilst undoubtedly a luxury home that is out of reach for most people, the EHA residence in Wyoming was constructed as a low-energy home built sustainably. Almost all of the siding is comprised of recycled materials [8] and all new timber used is treated to ensure longevity and low maintenance. Additionally, renewable bamboo furnishings [9] have been used throughout the interior, including the ceiling.
A closed loop geothermal pump keeps the house cool in summer and warm in winter and what energy is used is conserved thanks to rigorous insulation and low energy lighting. LED lights [10] are implemented in most public areas, while halogen has been used elsewhere. Corten steel [11] was used for the roofing and fascia details, further ensuring that the home has a light footprint over its entire lifetime. We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to call over and ask if the guest house is free?
