What’s the best thing to do with construction helmets? Turn them into a massive helmet sculpture, of course! That’s what sculptor Rafael Melida did with 3,283 yellow helmets, all of which were constructed out of recycled plastic for use in the sculpture.
Melida’s sculpture, located in Huelva Spain, took 1,239 hours to construct over a three month period. The helmets were collected by University of Huelva students and soldered onto a metal frame by a team of sculptors. And their diligent efforts definitely paid off, the sculpture has been labeled as the second largest ever made out of recycled materials by the Guinness Book of World Records.
