Samo is a giant humpback whale made out of recycled materials that was recently unveiled by Mattel’s Children’s Hospital UCLA at the Santa Monica Place Mall. The result of a collaboration between Bob Bangham from RipBangSVI and Arthur M. Cappola of Macerich, this awesome 46-foot-long play space teaches children all about environmental issues and the plight of humpback whales. Although Samo’s Clubhouse was designed for children ages 5-8, adults with a penchant for sustainable design will also get a kick out of this very cool project, which is visible from both inside and outside this heavily-trafficked mall.
