As if Copenhagen weren't green enough, the dust bin company VIPP just unveiled a giant, eight-foot-tall trash can that looks just like the company's original pedal bin designed in 1939. After it was constructed, the mega bin was lifted onto a truck bed and then it hit the road. Its first stop is in Copenhagen, where the bin's surreal presence will hopefully convince residents and visitors alike to keep Denmark's greenest city clean.

The extraordinary VIPP bin is 8.2 feet tall and 6 feet wide – which is eight times larger than the original pedal bin. It weighs 1,763.7 lbs and has a volume of 3,800 liters – that’s enough space to hold one million discarded cigarette butts.

Designed to look exactly like the original, the mega bin has a stainless steel lid, a welded steel body, and a giant hinge and pedal. It even sports VIPP’s aluminum logo. After it was dropped off in downtown Copenhagen, onlookers became quite enamored with it. Many hopped on the pedal to see if the lid would pop off.

The bin will continue its mission to clean up urban spaces throughout the summer.
