Gallery: Gigantic Eight-Foot-Tall VIPP Rubbish Bin Pops Up in Copenhage...

Rubbish bin company VIPP designed the model to be eight times larger than its original pedal bin developed in 1939.

The extraordinary VIPP bin is 8.2 feet tall and 6 feet wide – which is eight times larger than the original pedal bin. It weighs 1,763.7 lbs and has a volume of 3,800 liters – that’s enough space to hold one million discarded cigarette butts.

Designed to look exactly like the original, the mega bin has a stainless steel lid, a welded steel body, and a giant hinge and pedal. It even sports VIPP’s aluminum logo. After it was dropped off in downtown Copenhagen, onlookers became quite enamored with it. Many hopped on the pedal to see if the lid would pop off.

The bin will continue its mission to clean up urban spaces throughout the summer.
