I am making plans to move South, Georgia, from New York and like all New Yorkers,
I want to make a statement, i want to be known as that chic from North, driving in my Zip Car. this would help me tremendously with cost of transportation until i settle and find a job. It would be my own little neighbour-hood watch.They would notice me when I Zip in and Zip out in my driveway.

All trafic lights should be sequenced maybe by cars gps as well as no left turns permited. I know this will make you drive around the block but people have to learn to plan a route without delaying the one behind them. Many times in my semi have been passed by a vehicle only to have them turn in front of me. Making a semi stop and go at 80,000 lbs. waste so much fuel.

I’m in college right now so green transportation is my life! Every day, ride a bus to the other side of campus that is running on biofuel. When I don’t ride the bus, I ride my bike for a good workout and to save transportation energy. On the weekends, I go to visit the loves of my life (my mom, sister, and boyfriend) using Zipcar! It’s absolutely amazing to be able just to flash a key card and hop in and drive away. It saves all the costs and helps our entire campus get around better. Plus, it saves spaces that might normally be needed for parking that we can use for other things, like gardens! I love Zipcar and everything it provides me when my bike can’t do it for me.

I find that by reverse commuting one can actually setback their carbon footprint. Do it by walking, biking, taking public transportation or ride sharing and you have yourself a formula that could only exist if Einstein and Mr. Clean were to put their heads together!

I moved to NYC in Nov 2010 and got rid of my car in Feb 2011. I haven’t used ZipCar yet but looking forward to visiting my friends in Jersey that I can’t reach via public transportation…

I moved to the city, sold my car and either use public transportation, my skates or my scooter which gets 90/ gallon. When I do need a car, if I can’t carpool or get picked up at the train station, I have the option of using zipcar or another local car sharing site, and try to choose the most electric model.

I recently returned to the U.S. from studying in Buenos Aires where I used public transportation daily. I was surprised on my return to discover that the public transportation in my home city (San Diego) is quite easy to use and that it is actually less expensive then driving to work and school. So using the trolly and bus I save money, lower my carbon footprint and as a bonus I gain more time to study as I ride.

My transportation secret to reduce my carbon footprint is that as a teacher, on days I cannot catch a ride to work with a colleague, I’ve gained permission to hop onto the school bus (I go from suburbs to inner city to teach) and ride IT to school. Yes, I’m teased; but it’s free, good for the earth, and once I’m on I’m warm and relaxed. Plus, there’s something about throwing on that backpack and trekking down the street that feels nostalgic in all the right ways.

I ended my lease last year and have been living car free for a year now. I borrow cars when absolutely necessary but it’s amazing how easy it is to carpool and use public transportation when you make an effort and try. I used to drive everywhere because it was ‘cheaper’ but not having a car has been far more affordable and I really enjoy the time for myself on trains!

Try to run your errands during non-peak traffic hours. Go do your grocery shopping at night when the congestion is a minimum. Less time in stop-and-go traffic means less pollution in the air. Also try to keep your RPMs down while driving. Although it does make your trip or commute faster, it also increases the amount exhaust emitted from your vehicle. Play it smart.

I’m selling my car! Public transit is spectacular is Portland so I’m thankful for that but when I get a craving for the coast or Mt. Hood I can always count on Zip Car to satiate my need for a journey.

Not much beats a bicycle as well, and I have invested in three different types for whatever I may be doing on any given day…I would like to try Zipcar as soon as possible, and Boise State University even has dedicated Zipcar parking right next to classes…now beat that!!!

Zipcar has literally saved my life! It’s 100 degrees here in Phoenix, AZ. I first heard of Zipcar in Seattle and it helped me move. Now I’m back in Phoenix wondering why I’m trying to be one of the few to “save the planet” when I’m burning up! It’s bloody hot out here! Zipcar would really help me get back and forth with ease, especially to get my career started. It’s obviously up to you, but I at least owe you a thank you for all the times you have been there. Thank you Zipcar!

Five years ago I sold my car and joined zipcar. Living in Boston, I either use public transportation or walk 95% of the time. I use zipcar the other 5%. I’ve not only reduced my CO2 output, I’ve bettered my health, reduced my monthy/yearly transportation costs and I’m proud to say I don’t own a car!
