Glowing Nourishment Lamp Feeds the Eyes with Elegant Design

Hoping to put use to the waste produced in her kitchen, Joan Lau collected all her used Yakult bottles and began constructing these stunning honeycomb lamps. The plastic bottles were perforated on the bottom to accommodate a series of plastic ties which connect them together. The result is a warm, orb-like series of lamps that live up to their name and satiate anyone’s hunger for a sophisticated aesthetic. Carolyn Joan Lau’s Nourishment Lamp transforms commonplace plastic bottles into beautiful organic forms reminiscent of coral reefs. The lamps are made from bottles of Yakult, a Japanese probiotic milk drink that is similar to yogurt. The Nourishment Lamp capitalizes on the bottles’ distinctive, aesthetically pleasing shape, although the design is so simple and elegant that it would translate well to any type of bottle
