In accordance with planning regulations and the rich local vernacular, PLASMA Studio gave the Dolomitenblick apartment complex a sloping pitched roof and clad the whole thing in larch [1] and pre-oxidized copper. Both are designed to weather over time exposed as the home is to rain, snow and sunshine, which is partially what ensures its organic merger with the dramatic mountain landscape.

Oriented for maximum solar gain [2], each unit boasts floor to ceiling glazing and a generous overhang. The latter ensures shading during summer months, as well as privacy, given the units’ proximity to one another. Each covered terrace ends in a small garden and sun shades provide further control over daylighting [3].
