Greypants’ New Recycled Cardboard Scraplights Are Now Available At Their Online Store

We first saw Graypants’ Scraplights back in 2008 and immediately wanted one (or ten). Graypants is led by Jonathan Junker and Seth Grizzle out of Seattle, where they build chairs, tables, lights and even doghouses out of recycled and repurposed materials. But it’s their Scraplights that have been their greatest creation. Rings of recycled cardboard are laser cut and then glued together using non-toxic adhesives. They can be hung simply with cord sets and can be hard wired or plugged in.
The design firm recently opened its online shop offering up 20 varieties of the Scraplights – ranging from the celestial Moon series, sophisticated Drums, Cones, Drops, Bells, and now their brand new lamp, the Quad. This latest version of the Scraplight is made from a single panel of a repurposed cardboard box, making it their most resource efficient light yet. The warm light that emits from the shades seeps through the wavy corrugation of the cardboard and casts fascinating shadows.
Scraplights start at $179 each and will make the perfect addition to any home.
