It’s easy to get “wrapped up” in the holiday gift giving (and receiving) spirit. The holidays are about giving to those you love, so why not extend that tradition with one of these gifts that give back, which will benefit not just your loved ones but millions of others around the world. Here are some great choices, from trees to magazines to solar-powered flashlights – even jewelry – all of which give back to global citizens in need.

  1. I would like to purchase a give that will give back for my family members for christmas….but how do I know that children are receiving these flashlights, or that trees are being planted after i make the purchase? Is there some sort of confirmation to see where the charity goes? Thank you

    Hi Laura-

These are all large reputable charities we are talking about here – I wouldn’t doubt that they are doing what they say they are doing, but obviously you will need to check with each charity on a case-by-case basis yourself to make sure that you trust that your purchase is going to its desired intent.

I think giving a gift to a child on Christmas is not only about giving a gift but also the giving of a thought and care to that child, Please give during this Holiday season and you shall be rewarded.

For anyone who wants to check out a charity go to http://www.charitynavigator.org. It rates charities on several levels, even giving the CEO’s pay . As a development professional I have sent hundreds of people to this site. Good luck!
