Comedian and talk show host Jay Leno sure has a lot of cars and motorcycles down at his garage in Southern California — his collection numbers roughly 200 vehicles. That’s not so great for the environment, but in GigaOM TV’s latest episode of its Green Overdrive show, Leno shows off some of the greener aspects of his solar-powered garage, including three of his 1900′s-era electric cars. This kind of article really bugs me. It is not “Green” by simply having more energy efficient features. There is no way of getting around the fact that it is an outrageously wealthy individual using a tremendous amount of resources for a hobby. The process of renovating those old cars is extremely messy and each of those cars has its oil changed on a fairly regular basis no matter how few miles have been driven.
It is unfortunate that sites such as Inhabit don’t call it for what it is.

Actually owning that many cars is not such a bad thing. In effect Leno has taken 200 cars off the road because they can’t all be driven at the same time. The more cars Leno buys the better?
