Day of the Dead! by Mara Warren
These Day of The Dead costumes are worn by Mara Warren and her husband after learning about the holiday, Dia De Los Muertos, and seeing pictures of the "sugar skull," they thought it would make an amazing Halloween costume, and we couldn't agree more! The costumes were made of recycled materials consisting of pieces they already had or things they purchased at their local Goodwill/Salvation Army.HOW TO MAKE THIS COSTUME
Step 1:
Mara's Outfit: Using an old dress and placing a white corset over top of it. She made a petticoat out of tulle that she purchased at the fabric store and sewed it into some material to make it into a skirt. She bought a pair of striped tights, got silk flowers at the craft store and made them into arrangements on the top, in her wig and on the skirt.
Step 2:
Husband's Outfit: They bought most of the costume from the Salvation Army and Goodwill, glued lace into the coat and lined it with red sparkly paint, which you can find at any craft store. Using old Christmas ribbon they added detail to the hat and the boutonniere.
