The Plastic Bag Lady Halloween Costume by theresa Spurling-Wood
Theresa Spurling-Wood wanted to help children and parents understand how many plastic bags the average person uses in 6 months. This Halloween she crafted a costume from reclaimed bags, and talked with as many people as possible while they were waiting in line to enter the Santa Fe Boo at the Santa Fe Zoo. Her efforts payed off, and she converted numerous people over to cloth and reusable bags! Over 4,000 people attended the event.Step 1:
Gather 200+ plastic bags, an old shirt, a shower cap, and a loaded staplerStep 2:
Stapled the bags onto the shirt and shower cap (5 hour process)Step 3:
Dress in your costumeStep 4:
Walked and talk to people explaining that the costume represents the average persons bag use in 6 months. Get ready for people to be shocked and say they will start using cloth bags!
