UP Floating House Halloween Costume by Yuko Mino

Yuko Mino wanted to create a family-coordinated costume that would also work on its own - so she decided to become the UP house! Yuko is an architect, so her costume revisited her studio days of making building models - except this one was a lot more fun to create! She used AutoCAD software to draw the building's elevations and then printed them out at full scale and glued them onto recycled cardboard. She then painted the house and topped it with a bunch of balloons.

HOW TO MAKE THIS COSTUME

Step 1:

Use AutoCAD to draw the elevations of the house. (Or, you know, you could eyeball it.)

Step 2:

Print the drawings out at full scale and then glue them onto pieces of recycled cardboard.

Step 3:

Cut out the cardboard pieces and then glue them together to form the house.

Step 4:

Paint the house and go over the details with a black marker. Add a bunch of balloons for the final touch!
