VW Beetle Transformer Halloween Costume by Luis Linares

Luis Linares pulled out all the stops for this VW Beetle Transformer costume, which is made from a heap of salvaged toys and a lot of ingenuity! Luis based his costume on a set of football shoulder pads, and he used a grey foam mat to create the robot's bulky form and pieces from gun and car toys to give it a high-tech finish.

HOW TO MAKE THIS COSTUME

Step 1:

Use a pair of football shoulder pads as a base upon which to construct the transformer's upper body.

Step 2:

Use the hood from a Volkswagen Beetle power wheel to construct the chest plate.

Step 3:

Take apart mechanical toys like guns and cars to salvage accent and detail parts. Paint them chrome or silver to match the rest of the costume.

Step 4:

Using a grey foam mat, cut out pieces for the costume's legs, lower body, and arms. Paint these pieces silver and then use glue or grey tape to attache the detail parts.
