Greenpeace members rallied last week [1] in Italy to protest Brazilian leather and the mass deforestation [1]it has been causing in the Amazon. The Greenpeacers dressed up in bark-like sustainable materials and stood outside of the Linea Pelle leather trade show in Bologna to raise awareness for the issue, holding signs that said “Save Your Skin” or “Save Your Leather,” depending on how the Italian word “pelle” is translated. Cattle ranching (which supplies leather makers with the hides they need) is responsible for 80 percent of deforestation in Brazil, and Greenpeace [1] is hoping that the ruckus they’re making will put an end to that.
