Greypant’s Cutting-Edge Slice Chair

While perusing Graypants [5]‘ catalog of eco-friendly furnishings we were particularly impressed by the lovely lines of this Slice chair [6]. The cantilever chaise has a layered wood structure that allows an ottoman to slide out from beneath its seat. It’s an elegant design that achieves a versatile form factor via the efficient use of materials.

True to Graypants [5]‘ goal of making a difference through design, the Slice chair [6]‘s innovative structure seamlessly joins two separate functions into one beautiful piece. Each part is composed of a series of interlaced slats that mesh together, creating a structurally sound chair that requires a minimum of materials. Although production details are spotty for now, it’s a stunning example of forward-thinking design that we’d love to see firsthand.
