Gallery: Grow a Lush Green Garden Inside Your Furniture With FurniBloom

Acrylic glass is perfect for outdoors

Looking for a fun alternative to your home or office’s drab and lifeless seating? Then take a cue from the FurniBloom designed by Icelandic landscape architect Dagný Bjarnadóttir. A set of furniture sure to inspire you on a daily basis, the collection features a transparent table and stools that let you work al fresco, all while providing you with the perfect place for planting herbs, flowers and even small vegetables!

Bjarnadóttir created this blooming see-through furniture while working as a partner at Landslag, an architecture firm based in Reykjavik. Her intention was to combine a stylish, flexible and simple look with multi-functional use. Moreover, in addition to its ability to blend amicably with any existing interior decor, FurniBloom is also a great solution for those limited on space and looking to create a garden of their own in their small home.

FurniBloom has been constructed from Poly methyl methacrylate (a.k.a. plexiglas or acrylic glass), giving way to a sustainable product that is both recyclable and long-lasting.

The eye-catching design has been touring several design events including the recent edition of the quirky Icelandic initiative DesignMarch, the fantastic Stockholm Furniture Fair and last year’s World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
