Each of the hubs scattered throughout Port-au-Prince have a series of facilities that ensure high sanitation standards even during natural disasters. Each facility provides space for hand and foot washing, cooled seating, irrigation channels that divert floodwaters to wetlands north of the city, laundry facilities, water distribution points, shading, toilets, and showers.

Waste water is treated on site and food storage and preparation facilities are also set aside. The design calls for local materials that can be put together by local artisans. If and when disaster strikes, the Simbi Hubs will enable NGO workers and the Haitian government to spring into coordinated action to maintain cleanliness, order, and most of all, quality of life.
