abigail-xmasmorning.jpgAbigail sends warm holiday wishes from Sofia, Bulgaria: We are planning a celebratory but quiet day here in the city with the twins and our Bulgarian family. We will be cooking delicious food from an organic farm that my father-in-law has in operation in the countryside. This feast will include organic milk, homemade sheep cheeses, two types of olives, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and bootleg organic red wine preserved in locally-crafted oak barrels. We will also indulge in some local Bulgarian desserts before a long winter’s nap.

alex-xmascard.jpg Alex Kain created this lovely Christmas card using a Gocco Printer. It says Merry Christmas in Russian, and features her cat!

alex-xmaswrapping.jpgAlex Kain shares her green gift-wrapping tips: I always bring my canvas bags (including my awesomely sturdy inhabitat tote!) to the grocery store, but every once in a while I need to use a few of the paper bags. I just cut them up and use them as simple wrapping paper – which i haven’t bought in years! This year Trader Joe’s had some nice snowflake prints on the bags so i cut a few of them out and used them as decor for the gifts. sometimes i spruce it up with a bright ribbon or some stickers too.

Piper Kujac shares her holiday memories: These xmas tree decor pics were taken in Hawaii this past week. That part is irrelevant, but since I’m not gathering around a tree with family this year, they reminded me of how special and nostalgic holiday decorations can be. Tree decorations often span a lifetime and represent family memories over time. Each year growing up, my mother would display early hand prints from me and my sisters in preschool.. and she’d bring out this hand-woven nativity scene from Chile that’s as old as I am.. some of the woven straw donkeys became half-chewed from the dog I had when I was 10.. but that was just part of their charm, and the memory of my dog Timothy :) .
