Hertz Rents Out First Chevy Volt in NYC

Back in December, Hertz launched [4] the first U.S. electric vehicle rental program. Since then, they’ve added a slew of the latest EVs to the list of available cars, including the hugely popular Chevy Volt [5]. Yesterday the company announced that they have rented the first Volt from their fleet in New York City to a Mr. Elliot Jones [6].

The Volt [7] joins the company’s Smart ForTwo Electric Drive EV/PHEV options as one of the newest EVs available to the general public through the Connect by Hertz [8] car sharing program in New York. They have more than 175 locations throughout the city, with a fleet of over 400 EVs. The renting of the Volt [9] further solidifies Hertz’s commitment to making green transportation widely available for retail consumers. If you’re dying to get behind the wheel [9] of an EV but you have no need to rent a car, Hertz is offering a test drive program [10] for the newest electric vehicles on the market, including the new Prius [11], the latest Smart Car [12], and the Nissan Leaf [13].
