		<description>Britain has had high speed diesel trains running at 125mph (and capable of setting records in the 140&#039;s) since the 1970&#039;s.  They&#039;ve also had electric trains that can theoretically operate at 140mph (and have hit speeds in the 160&#039;s - although they also tend to max out at 125mph in service) since 1990.

The 140mph trains may be new on certain routes, but they aren&#039;t the first high speed trains in the UK.</description>
