The Wedge House was designed for Hometta by Min Day, who also designed and baked the gingerbread home you see here. The real house is a three bedroom, two bath modern home with a slanted roof and an attached flat roof garage. A protected courtyard is created by extending the side walls, and the slanted roof and courtyard are excellent places to plant vegetation. Passive solar design, radiant floor heating, natural ventilation, modular SIP construction and high efficiency insulation make this a lovely little green home.

Hometta and Min Day are making cooking up your own version of the Wedge House extra easy by offering up templates and construction plans. Follow step by step instructions to put together your very own green gingerbread house and impress your loved ones this holiday. Add green colored coconut for an insulating green roof and be sure to use organic flour and local candies when possible to ensure an eco house from the ground up.
