Honda Executives Hint That They’ll be Bringing the Acura NSX Back as a Hybrid

Executives at Honda recently hinted to Automotive News that they’ll be reincarnating the Acura NSX as a lean, mean, green machine . The NSX went out of production in 2005 and rumors have been going around that it might be returning. Automotive News got the first real scoop that the new model will most likely include a hybrid-electric power train.
Honda says they are working on a “spiritual successor” to the NSX that will be fun to drive and friendly to the earth. Honda’s chief executive officer and president, Takanobu Ito, was the one who leaked the news but he didn’t let slip when the car might be revealed. He did note that the new vehicle will most likely come in the form of a high performance alternative to the Honda CR-Z.
The NSX was used when it came out as an inspiration for the McLaren F1 supercar, which was conceived of by Gordan Murray for McLaren Automotive . When he drove the NSX for the first time Gordon reportedly noted, “of course the car we would create, the McLaren F1, needed to be faster than the NSX, but the NSX’s ride quality and handling would become our new design target.” With a history like that perhaps this green NSX redux will give the Telsa Roadster a run for its money.
