This horseshoe-shaped tourist center located on the third highest mountain in Hungary is an expansion of a small stone mountain hut. NARTARCHITECTS designed the new facilities using the latest in sustainable technology to curb the building's energy consumption. An air heat pump, rainwater recovery systems, heat recovered air-ventilation, solar collectors, photovoltaic panels and LED lighting throughout the building ensure the energy efficiency of the center.
The building is located at the top of the National Blue Tour hiking trail in Hungary. It is built using reinforced concrete and materials that can sustain harsh weather conditions. Several types of accommodation units occupy the top floors, with a room specifically designed for handicapped people. Ski and bicycle services offer different ways of experiencing the beauty of the region and the second highest peak of Matra mountain.
