The Hortus Celestia vertical farm [2] is designed to showcase innovation in the Dutch greenhouse [3] industry with 14 floors of flourishing gardens. Designed by Except [4] and Sign, the 28-story vertical farm features a promenade that starts at the panoramic roof garden and winds down through the tower.

Hortus Celestia features a wide array of agricultural spaces enveloped in a transparent ETFE skin [6]. The ground floor houses restaurants, cafes, exhibition areas and an auditorium. The tower rises out of an ecological park [7] that provides local residents and visitors with an opportunity to walk experience the building’s biodiversity and innovative technology. Rainwater is stored in tanks at the top of the tower and used to supply the irrigation system.
