This extraordinary Hyper Filter Skyscraper was designed to inhale carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases and exhale oxygen. This biomimetic structure uses long pipe filters in the air purification process and stores harmful substances for use in the chemical industry. The project earned an honorable mention in this year’s eVolo Skyscraper Competition.
With current air pollution levels in global cities, harmful substances spread over hundreds of kilometers and convert entire regions and even countries into pollution sources. This skyscraper was designed as a solution for regional air pollution problem. Located in the big cities between skyscrapers surrounded by busy traffic roads, stations and factories, the structure soaks up CO2 and other harmful gases and releases clear concentrated oxygen into the atmosphere.
The envelope was designed to provide proportional clean air emissions to the over-building space. The external skin populated with pipe-filters maintains temperature balance throughout the building and inhaled harmful substances are divided into reservoirs for future use in construction and chemical industry.
