IDI Studio’s new storage collection takes a cue from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. Their line of desks, wardrobes, shelving and wine racks borrow from the flight cases of touring bands. Called “Roadies” — named after the workers who move music equipment from city to city for rock stars — the collection is all handmade from recycled 100% FSC teak wood and aluminum. And like their rocker counterparts, they come on wheeled casters.
Combining sustainability with the modern style of the rock ‘n’ roller, the Roadie collection is an innovative storage solution for both home and the office. Each piece is set within an aluminum profile and has flexible usage — from storing wine to serving as a coffee table or TV stand. The recycled teak wood keeps the collection cohesive, while still allowing the owner to shift uses for each piece, from room to room.
Set on four casters, the pieces in the collection can be easily transported from room to room without heavy lifting. Chests double as low tables, while a countertop opens to reveal a mini bar complete with storage for glasses, bottles and other must-haves for cocktails. These dual pieces also help the Roadie collection fit into the workplace.
Like musicians’ transport equipment, IDI’s Roadies mimic the hardware on band cases, with handles and enclosures that look like they’re ready to tour. The Roadie collection is the perfect storage and furniture system for the rocker — or the rocker at heart.
