Will single-use syringes or patches soon become a thing of the past? Schoeller Textil AG in Switzerland has produced a new high-tech fabric that administers medical treatments transdermally, or through the skin. The fabric, called “iLoad,” releases active substances into the wearer’s skin over the course of minutes or hours, depending on the specific treatment. After each use, the fabric can be washed in an industrial or domestic washing machine and reloaded with medicine.
