If the American Dream is to own your own home with a car in the driveway, then a real estate agent in San Jose has quite possibly created the American Fantasy. Anyone willing to put down $1.35 million for a home in the Willow Glen neighborhood will also receive a Tesla Model S sedan. The listing agent has drawn a lot of attention to the four bedroom, three bathroom house with the promise of the electric vehicle, and to top it all off, the home was given a green makeover in February by SIDCO Homes (Sustainable Innovative Design & Construction).

The Tesla is itself is on a prepaid three-year lease with a value of $40,000. The 9,200 home already comes equipped with a charging station. The garage door, thermostat, and master bathroom shower are all wi-fi friendly, and able to be controlled by mobile device. The roof is constructed with radiant plywood, and all windows and doors are double-paned. Energy Star appliances outfit the interior, and LED fixtures provide efficient lighting. The furnace is 95% efficient, and a 50 gallon water heater provides hot water on demand. All toilets and showers are maximized to save water, and solar panels produce enough energy to qualify the property as a Net Zero Home.

“This is definitely giving me the opportunity to get my word out. Let’s do energy efficient homes, let’s do homes with cars in there, let’s do homes with solar panels,” SIDCO owner Mohan Mahal told KGO-TV.

Those interested in taking a tour or making a down payment should contact the Morris Williams Realty company. Everyone else can take a virtual walk-through by visiting the agency’s website.

Please tell me that’s not really how much a small, single-story house on a postage-stamp-sized lot goes for in the Bay Area.

I will sell you my certified “green” single-level ranch-style home in the Berryessa neighborhood of San Jose for half that price ($600K) and that includes a Nissan LEAF with charging station and ammenities not included in this home such as solar-powered glass tile kitchen backplash lighting and doorbell.
