Gallery: In Vino Vitae: Unique Heart-Shaped Wine Rack is Made of Reused...

This extraordinary heart-shaped wine rack dubbed In Vino Vitae: In Wine There Is Life.

Axel Yberg builds functional art from reclaimed plumbing fittings and his latest work is this extraordinary heart-shaped wine rack commissioned for cancer survivor Erin Zammett Ruddy. Called In Vino Vitae: In Wine There Is Life, the design was crafted to help Erin raise $100,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and in hand-crafting an original piece, Axel hoped to support Erin’s efforts to become their “Woman of the Year.”

The rack serves multiple purposes, not only holding the wine bottles but providing a bar space to enjoy a glass. Although it is a practical design, aesthetically it looks more sculptural than your average functional rack, with remnants of former plumbing gadgets and devices adorning the curved structure, making the dynamic form look even more unusual. And with such a unique design it will undoubtedly help raise money for a good cause.

Have a look at Axel’s website for a full range of his pieces.
