It marks the first time that such a deal has been made, and will require the retailer to perform tests that far exceed the standards currently set by the FDA.

Foster + Partners reveal plans for new metro system in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Foster-+-Partners-Jeddah-Metro-Station

Award-winning architecture firm Foster + Partners just unveiled plans for a new city-wide public transportation plan for Jeddah—one of the most vibrant city centres in Saudi Arabia. Foster + Partners came out first in an international design competition for the city’s transport network, and a contract-signing ceremony was held today to celebrate the project’s launch. The firm will be designing everything from the train stations and branding to metro, bus, ferry, and cycling spaces. This new system is being approached with a long-term, sustainable view; one that takes into account how the city will evolve over the next few centuries, rather than just a couple of decades from now.

We’re learning a lot about new green energy technology these days, from wireless solar power to smog-eating concrete. And now this: a plastic used in tubing can actually produce electricity when stretched. Researchers have known about this property for a while, but weren’t sure how to take advantage of it—until now. Scientists at the University of Texas, in conjunction with others, are working to create fibers from the material, in order to open the door for an nearly infinite range of green energy applications, as well as potential medical breakthroughs, such as artificial muscle.

PETITION: Tell presidential candidates to stop lying about climate change!

ted cruz denies climate change

In 2016, the American people will select a new president, and that person will face some of the most difficult challenges this world has ever seen. Climate change is one of the biggest problems the next president will have to tackle. With the frenzied season of political promises ahead will come a barrage of media coverage of presidential hopefuls and their proposed policies. Newly-announced presidential candidate Ted Cruz is well known for rejecting climate change, saying “global warming alarmists are the equivalent of the flat-Earthers.” Other candidates are likely to pick and choose which scientific facts they wish to believe as well, but that doesn’t mean the media has to relay their lies without keeping them in check. This new petition is targeted at major media outlets, in the hopes that journalists will hold political candidates accountable for their climate change lies. Can you imagine media coverage that included a fair and balanced reporting of scientific facts? Sign the petition today and send a message to presidential candidates that it’s time to get real about the things they say about climate change in our fragile world.
