Infiniti finally unveiled its highly anticipated Emerg-E electric sports car at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show this week, and the sexy coupe shows Infiniti’s intent to produce a new halo model for the brand. The Emerg-E was developed in Europe and it’s the first high performance, mid-ship sports car to feature Infiniti’s updated design language. Read on for a closer look!
The Infiniti Emerg-E concept gets its motivation from a pair of electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack and a three-cylinder range-extending engine that sends its power to the rear wheels. The 402bhp mid-engined, twin electric motors are capable of accelerating the Emerge-E from 0-60 mph in four seconds with a range of 30 miles. After that, a 1.2L Lotus-engineered three-cylinder range-extender engine kicks in giving the concept a 300 mile range.
The low emission hybrid system is installed within a lightweight, extruded aluminum chassis unit with ultra-light carbon fiber panels. Thanks to the use of carbon fiber and aluminum, the Emerg-E only weighs 3,523 pounds.
“This is 400 wild horses of muscle in a silky dress,” said Francois Bancon, Division General Manager of Exploratory and Advanced Product of the elegant new ride.

Actually, Tesla has already made a fully electric sports car called the Tesla Roadster, which goes 0-60 in 3.7 secs and has a range of around 200 miles purely on electric power. In addition, it has been built with a carbon fiber body since its launch in 2008.
WOW!! Looking gorgeous! But the concept of using carbon fiber is very new. Hope it’ll too fast and smooth as it’s looked. We are getting ready to move on at a higher speed than before.
