Hey Inhabitat readers -

Calling all writers and designers who want to work for an awesome online publication [1] with passion, a vision and a mission to make the world a better place through the power of design! Would you like to work for the web’s largest green design publication [1], which is read by 100,000 thought-leaders every day, and 2 million readers every month? [2] Of course, we’re humbly talking about Inhabitat [1] here — we’re expanding and currently looking to fill a few freelance & full-time positions. If you (or someone you know) are passionate about sustainable design, and want to work for an exciting and fast-growing publishing company focused on design innovation, we want to hear from you!

Below are the following open positions. Candidate for the full-time positions must live in New York – the freelance writer job is not location-specific, but we are specifically looking for writers based in New York. FREELANCE WRITER

Do you have a way with words and a passion for design? Inhabitat is looking for freelance design writers for our website to cover all design disciplines, technology, energy, and the environment. This is a freelance, contract gig to start with the possibility of moving to full-time. It is not location-specific, but we are specifically favoring candidates in NYC who we can occasionally meet with us in our New York City offices. Interested applicants should send a resume, 3 published clips relevant to Inhabitat’s focus and 3 pitches for new stories to info at inhabitat.com. Short-listed candidates who are a good fit for the position will be asked to write several trial articles for Inhabitat.

INHABITAT SPECIAL PROJECTS EDITOR

Inhabitat is currently looking for full-time editor based in New York City to focus on design and special projects. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated self-starters with excellent writing, verbal communication and people management skills, and passion for making the world a better place through the power of smart design. A background in sustainable design and architecture is desirable but not required. Familiarity and graphic design experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and typography is an added plus.

INHABITAT NYC EDITOR

Inhabitat is currently looking for a full-time NYC editor to manage Inhabitat’s NYC website [3]. Ideal candidates will be seasoned New Yorkers with a strong interest in their local community, excellent writing, verbal communication and people management skills, and passion for making the world a better place through the power of smart design. A background in sustainable design and architecture or journalism is desirable but not required. Familiarity and graphic design experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, and typography is an added plus.

INHABITAT OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Inhabitat is currently seeking a high-energy, uber-organized, detail-oriented operations assistant to help with all the day-to-day details of running a small online publishing business. Our Operations Assistant will be responsible for helping to manage pr, editorial, advertising campaigns, and business development. Previous experience is not necessary, but applicants must be highly self-motivated, quick to adapt, have a keen eye for detail, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be web-savvy, familiar with blogging, and have expertise in Microsoft Office software and Adobe graphic design / photo editing software. This is a great entry-level job for a talented recent graduate looking to get a foot in the door of an exciting small business.
