Hey WordPress / PHP gurus!

Inhabitat needs your expertise. We’re currently looking for one or more awesome PHP / WordPress rockstars to fill ongoing, part-time or full-time freelance developer positions with potential for full-time work, working on Inhabitat’s backend tech support and website development. Developing multi-user sites from start to finish, hacking and writing WordPress plugins, creating Buddypress websites, PHP, MySQL databases, CSS, HTML, and general website maintenance are the main features of this job. + WordPress (MU, Buddypress, custom themes, custom plugins)
+ E-commerce
+ Photoshop & graphics optimization for web
+ General website maintenance (dealing with webhosting servers)

This will be for a part-time or full-time, on-going position with Inhabitat, with rapid potential to transition to fulltime staff position at Inhabitat if desired, to develop new PHP websites for Inhabitat, as well as improve, update and maintain the running of Proven extensive experience with WordPress blogging software (including hacking and installing custom plugins), working with WordPress MU, Buddypress, CSS, PHP and MySQL is required. Beyond being a great developer, we’re looking for candidates who feel passionately about good green design and believe in our mission that design can change the world. We’re ideally looking for candidates who want to be more than freelancers, but who want to join our terrific team of passionate people and be part of an exciting startup with lots of growth potential.

Excellent communication skills (willingness to use IM), flexibility and the ability to work fast and meet deadlines are both requirements of the job.

Ideally based in the U.S, and preference will be given to applicants in the NYC area.
