Spring in New York City is always exciting, but here at Inhabitat it’s not just the weather that gets us going! Spring is packed with tons of great green design events and conferences — like BKLYN Designs and ICFF to name a few. There is a lot to get done in preparation for these exciting events, so we are looking for a new intern to help out our Editorial and Operational teams. As an Inhabitern, you will be given the opportunity to write for the site and will be an important part of a stellar team where, even as an intern, your work is valuable and necessary. The Right Candidate:
+ Is smart, ambitious and energetic
+ Is an EXCELLENT communicator: both written and verbal
+ Is seriously detail-oriented
+ Thrives on solving problems and creating order from chaos
+ Is proactive, takes initiative, a go-getter
+ Enjoys working with people
+ Is idealistic and passionate about social issues, design, or environmental stewardship
+ Is seeking valuable career experience
+ Knowledge of Photoshop, Word Press, Google Docs and Basic HTML is a huge plus (but not required)
+ Must be web savvy and have a strong understanding of social media
+ Must have a good sense of humor and be able to “roll with the punches,” so to speak
+ Must live in the NYC region or be willing to commute to NYC at least once a week
+ Must own a laptop and be comfortable communicating remotely
+ Work with editorial staff on paid writing assignments and other projects
+ Act as a research assistant on projects that involve both editorial content and business development
+ Opportunity to utilize design skills for site development and in-house advertising
+ Perform tasks centered around different fundamental business areas such as: accounting, marketing, e-commerce, and business development
+ Work on spreadsheets to create reports and functional business data
+ Monitor email accounts and respond to users and other inquiries
