emily pilloton's presentation at the dwell conference yesterday was wonderful! her topic, "humanitarian and green design as a community development tool", highlighted the confluence of good ideas that support and add value to our communities. most striking in her presentation was the fact that bold innovation often comes from individuals, such as the young man in malawi who built a windmill to power his family's home, or an architect who rebuilds homes and lives in biloxi. the four models of innovation featured were all life-changing, deliverable, and inspiring, and should prompt us all to create our own contributions.
