Summer camp is a long-standing American tradition that many kids never get to experience, due to the cost. For years, Wild Birds Unlimited—a national chain of nature specialty stores—has sponsored campers at some of the 30 nature camps operated in 21 states by the National Audubon Society. This year, the company is expanding its efforts with $25,000 in scholarship funds to enable 125 more children to spend part of their summer outdoors, connecting with nature and wildlife. “By providing children with an opportunity to experience natural surroundings in these camps, we’re building what often becomes a lifelong passion for nature and conservation,” said Jim Carpenter, CEO and Founder of Wild Birds Unlimited.
