Making one or two homemade Valentines is a breeze, but it can be a tall order to make DIY Valentine's Day cards in bulk for your child's classmates. While there are many green Valentines you can order online, I am a huge fan of homemade Valentine's Day cards and when my son was younger I spent way too much time creating the perfect cards for him to hand out to his friends. I would put so much time into each card and my husband would remind me that they would be lucky to make it home from the class Valentine's Day party. I definitely spent one too many Valentine's Eves cutting and gluing into the wee hours. Have you done this too?
That said, I now choose Valentine's Day cards that are simple to put together. Here are 7 of my favorite green Valentine's Day card ideas that you can make in bulk in a short period of time with your child. These are cards that your kiddo's classmates will go gaga over and you can complete them well before February 14th!
#1: Watercolor Valentines
My favorite type of Valentines are simple and sweet, and these understated yet beautiful watercolor Valentines fit the bill perfectly. You could use eco-friendly or recycled material to create these mini masterpieces. I love that there is no template, your kids can create whatever Valentines make them happy!
#2: You Color My World Valentines
We have all made fun crayons from the broken pieces of our child’s collection – it’s just something that crafty mamas do! However, melting the crayons down in a heart shaped tin pumps it up a notch right in time for Valentine’s Day! If you have a large mini heart muffin tin, you can make a lot of these festive crayons in a matter of a few minutes. Give your child the job of breaking the crayons into small pieces, and you are ready to go! Add a cute little “You Color My World” tag and it’s a vibrant valentine!
#3: Paint-chip Bookmark Valentines
Paint-chips are always a fun craft supply – oh the colors! If you check with your local home supply store and ask the paint clerk for outdated paint chips they always have a bin full of them! Choose paint-chips that are in reds and pinks – the colors of Valentine’s Day. Give your child a heart shaped paper punch and some ribbon and the Valentines almost make themselves. These are a simple offering that will most likely get used again and not tossed in the recycling bin.
#4: Bird-feeder Valentines
If your child’s classroom is full of nature lovers – these birdseed feeder Valentines will make their hearts sing. Once again, these can be made in muffin tins, making it easy to churn out a bunch of them at a time. Simply punch holes and thread with ribbon and you have a Valentine that is perfect for the (love) birds!
#5: Guitar Valentines
Want to make it really easy on yourself? Order one of these Guitar Valentine’s Day card kits and let your child make all of the Valentines this year. These are super cute, and they’ll make your kid the rock star of the classroom!
#6 Fortune Valentines
Who doesn’t like to read their fortune? These adorable fortune Valentines are simple to create, but will make a big impact at the class Valentine’s Day party. I love that each fortune could be customized to each child – making it a Valentine that is very personal and fun!
#7: Simple Valentines
If all else fails why not pick up a generic set of plain Valentine’s Day note-cards and let your child spruce them up with washi tape? It’s a super simple Valentine that can be customized for each child and a craft that your children can definitely do all by themselves! Perfection.
