1. Plan Mother’s Day Brunch in an Surprise Location

Most moms will suspect breakfast in bed or brunch on the patio. So this year, why not take Mother’s Day breakfast to a whole new level, by planning to have it in an unexpected place. This could be a simple set-up on the roof top of a building, a blanket spread out on the grass at your favorite botanic garden or a picnic table at a nearby park or beach. You could easily pack up everything you need for a simple brunch in a picnic basket and surprise Mom with breakfast surrounded by nature and her appreciative family.

2. Make Mom Queen for the Day

Many moms would agree that it would be great to be able to choose the family activity for Mother’s Day. Whether Mom wants to head to the beach for a little sand and sun, take a hike to a local waterfall, snuggle up in the hammock with the kiddos, or take a family bicycle ride by the river – let Mom have complete control of the day, no complaining allowed. This can also include letting Mom pick out what you will be having for dinner and then surprising her with an impromptu trip to her favorite local restaurant.

3. Gift Mom the Gift of Green

Give your children the supplies to surprise Mom with her own garden. A simple greenhouse or terrarium housing Mom’s favorite herbs, vegetables, succulents, or flowers is sure to be a big hit. Greenhouses and terrariums are easy to make and give children a chance to get their green thumbs dirty too! Both of these projects give Mom a long-lasting reminder of a beautiful Mother’s Day, showing her how lucky she is to have such a lovely family.

4. Give Mom a Photo Gallery

The best Mother’s Day gift that I ever received was a surprise photo gallery in my own home. My husband arranged for me to be away from the home while he and my son framed the carefully selected photographs in a beautiful selection of frames. Then, they created an amazing gallery of photographs on the wall in my office. This gallery of photographs is a constant reminder of the love that my family has for each other and reminds me of all of the family vacations, camping trips and family hikes that we have enjoyed together over the years.

5. Give Mom a Masterpiece

Children love to create art and chances are they’ll instantly agree to paint a masterpiece for Mom this Mother’s Day. You supply the eco-friendly art supplies and let your child’s creativity run wild. When the masterpiece is complete, frame it and present Mom with her own beautiful piece of artwork that can be hung in your home and shared with friends and family all year long. Another option is to create a small artwork gallery for Mom using smaller pieces of art that your child has created.

7.  Give her a Break

Being a Mom really is one of the hardest jobs in the world. As a Mother, we wear many hats and sometimes find that we spread ourselves so thin that there just isn’t enough time in the day to spend on ourselves. Mother’s Day is a great time to let your Mom know how much you appreciate all of her hard work by giving her a little free time. Mom will feel rejuvenated and refreshed after spending the afternoon sipping tea, reading the new bestseller while snuggled up on the sofa or spending the day relaxing at the beach with a nice cool drink. Sometimes peace and quiet can be the best gift you can give your Mom on Mother’s Day.
