A lot of the stuff you need to buy for Baby only ends up getting used for a year or two before being tossed aside. So we love the idea of gear that transforms as your tot grows like Baby's Rocking Cradle, a concept by London designer Martin Price. The clever wooden cradle becomes two rocking chairs after it's no longer needed.
Price developed the Baby’s Rocking Cradle concept after researching people’s attachment to their possessions and objects that trigger memories in our lives. Some parents find it tough to give up sentimental baby furniture like cradles, even though they’re only useful for a short time. We admit the transformation isn’t a simple procedure – at this point the prototype, which is made from ash, has to be sawn in half to be split into the two rocking chairs – but the convertible cradle concept certainly brings new life to an otherwise short-lived baby product.
