You know that fresh, amazing baby scent we all wish we could bottle and sell? Well now of course, someone is trying to. Dolce & Gabbana thinks they can improve upon a baby’s natural fragrance, and the Italian luxury fashion brand is launching a designer perfume for babies. Stefano Gabbana asks, “How can babies smell even sweeter than they already do?” Apparently, via the label’s alcohol-free fragrance, which contains notes of citrus, honey, and melon. Gabbana tells New York Daily News, “The softness of baby skin, the freshness of baby breath, a mother’s sweet hug, [and] the first smile” were notions that inspired the creation of the scent, which is meant to “enhance the tot’s natural smell.” A 50-ml bottle of the high-end perfume costs $45, and Dolce & Gabbana explain that their fragrance is “designed to cuddle and pamper every little boy and girl.” What ever happened to a good, old-fashioned teddy bear?

We’re not keen on putting any unnecessary products on babies and children, or using them on ourselves as adults for that matter — and the notion of baby fragrances becoming a trend is disturbing. What do you think?
