There's nothing like diving into a good book -- and The Panorama House in Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, designed by Moon Hoon lets the family slip into a story with a library that boasts a multi-level slide. Acting as a unique way to move between the home's multiple levels, the slide is set into terraced shelves. Beautiful, functional, and fun, the intent behind the architecture was to encourage the active young energy of the four children who call The Panorama House, home.
The floor plans for the Panorama House were designed to foster family bonding. The kitchen and dining spaces were also accentuated, with the television moved into a smaller room. The attic offers the best view of the surrounding landscape and also acts as a play area for the children. By far the most interesting part of the building is the aforementioned slide that runs through a stepped library crammed with books. Enjoyed by adults and children alike, the wooden ramp gives a playful twist to a modern home. Engaging both little bodies and minds, the feature is an excellent way to focus attention and stimulate an interest in reading. Public libraries, take note!
