Finger puppets are conventionally kitschy craft-paper of woven wool affairs that bear very little resemblance to the characters they are meant to portray. But Flor Panichelli’s beautifully crafted paper mache creations for her Pelpa collection put an end to that notion. More modern art sculptures in miniature than tools for dramatic play, each handmade piece comes with a short back-story. Take Albertino for example, his bio reveals a stint in the mafia. Or Margherita, who is, “the most adorable, funny, sensitive dreamer girl you can imagine.” Along with the finger puppets, Flor also has a few ‘art dolls’ for sale in her Etsy shop, but her blog is where you’ll find the latest updates on her creations.
