Kate Can Breastfeed and William Can Help

Breastfeeding is an extremely eco-friendly and healthy step that all parents can take. Breast milk is not only the perfect food for all babies, royal or otherwise, but eliminates harmful chemicals found in formula, supports early bonding, reduces the risk of SIDS, lowers obesity rates, and cuts down on packaging waste and energy use. Plus, though we’re sure the royal family isn’t concerned about money, everyday parents will appreciate how inexpensive breastfeeding is. Best of all breastfeeding can be a family affair. Dads, including William, can help support their partners by being great breastfeeding advocates or by feeding baby pumped breast milk. Hopefully Kate’s hospital supports breastfeeding, but if not she can always look into a good lactation consultant.

Decorate Green

Though red, white and blue (the colors of the Union Jack) spring to mind as ideal nursery colors, hopefully Kate and William are also thinking green. There are many great ways to green the royal nursery (or your own nursery) including purchasing an eco-friendly crib and organic baby mattress, using low-voc nursery paint, stocking up on eco-friendly toys and using energy efficient lighting. Personally, we think the eco-friendly Royal Bird Rocking Chair shown above would be the perfect royal nursery addition.

Use Cloth Diapers for the Royal Baby Bum

Companies like gDiaper are making it a snap to outfit even the most royal babies in cloth diapers. Cloth diapers come with a slew of eco-perks for all families such as saving on resources, cutting back on massive landfill waste and they are 100% adorable to boot. If cloth is too much for the royal family, we hope they consider the next best thing — eco-friendly disposables. If the royal family is really eco-invested they may also want to use reusable baby wipes.

Keep the Castle Toxin-free

A clean and healthy living space is important no matter where the royal family settles down, especially now that Kate and William will be bringing their baby home soon. It’s easy to reduce toxic and chemical exposure by avoiding the most common toxins found in the home, such as lead, VOCs, radon, and carbon monoxide. Other ways to reduce baby’s exposure to chemicals includes using safe, eco-friendly cleaners, avoiding flame retardants and filling your home with fresh plants.

Eat Green

Kate and William appear to be in great shape, so hopefully their new bundle will also be exposed to a healthy diet and plenty of outdoor time. However, if the royal family wanted to up their eating game plan, they might want to consider making homemade baby food served up in BPA-free dishes, going meat free more days a week, and cutting out extras such as excess sugar and junk food. Not only is an organic, whole foods, plant based diet healthier for little bodies but it’s also healthier for the planet.

Throw a Royal Green First Birthday Party

No doubt, this little fella’s first birthday will be the talk of the town, so we hope Kate and William make it green. From organic cake to sweet wool felt party favors to royal worthy decor (like the cute crowns shown above) to cute party printables, there’s so many ways to green a first birthday party event and even find eco-friendly first birthday gifts.
