A 15-month youth-lead study by partners Molina Healthcare and National 4-H Council has found that teens today are suffering from sleep deprivation, leading to increased levels of stress, reduced proficiency in school, and depression. The good news? Although stress, healthcare, lack of sleep, obesity and chronic illness weigh heavily on teens minds, knowledge of these issues has led to some great ideas about solutions says the newly released Teens Take On Health report that came out of the study. According to a decade long 4-H study, The Positive Development of Youth: Comprehensive Findings from the 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development (pdf) 4-H’ers are two times more likely to make healthier choices, which stands to reason that when you get your kids involved in other group activities, such as community service camps, scouts and volunteering, they may get more sleep and be healthier. Molina Healthcare and National 4-H Council have released a handy infographic summing up their study conclusions. Check out the full infographic after the break!
