Creating seperate spaces

mode:lina had the challenge of creating many spaces within a small area with a large variety of functions, so they decided to set up various comfort zones via wooden booths and by creating relevant acoustic conditions. Thus, the special black upholstering on the walls functions as acoustic panels, helping to block off various spaces of the cafe.

The family-friendly kitchen

The central point of the Tymianek Cafe is the kitchen, where meals are prepared before parents eyes for their kids (and themselves). The extra large kitchen island allows for plenty of prep work and cooking space.

Little corners

Small corners of the cafe are used to their maximum ability, by fitting in sleep mats, play structures and a place for a parent and child to rest or read together.

Within a child’s reach

All areas of this beautiful cafe have multifunctional spaces that are meant to accommodate adults and kids. For example, the kitchen area has sinks and counters that are sized for parents, but also additional sinks and counters that are smaller, thus suitable for a child to use. The cubbies, filled with pull-out bins are easy for parents and kids to access and can be filled with toys, games or personal affects.

Open fluid space

One of the principal functions of the cafe is that parents can let their kiddos run about, but also keep them in eyesight. This is accomplished via the wide open space and special house-shaped gaps in the walls, which are also a perfect accompaniment to children’s games! Visit the Tymianek Facebook page to see a variety of photos showcasing how parents and children are able to play, relax and interact within this wonderful cafe.
