The four female justices in Supreme Court history just got the LEGO superhero treatment from artist Maia Weinstock . Sandra Day O’Connor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan, dubbed the ‘Legal Justice League’ by Weinstock, are custom-designed, complete with distinguishing hairdos, and are shown in both a Supreme Court replica and a library. Although you can’t buy the set (apparently LEGO has a “no politics or political symbols” rule), we love the idea that Weinstock is celebrating women who broke through the glass ceiling of the legal system and that the set was created to inspire girls and women to aim for high-ranking positions in the legal world. Weinstock’s LEGO figures are a humorous and approachable way to teach kids about gender inequality, so we hope LEGO bends their rules and puts this creative collaboration into production. In the meantime, can we discuss how ridiculous it is that only four women have served on the Supreme Court during its 225 year existence?
